Materials and Resources

Gobabeb offers many resources for educators and those interested in learning about ecology, sustainable development, arid environments, and more. Some of our resources are

Enviroteach Resources

This set of 11 books provides information and ideas on themes linked to the Namibian environment. The Enviroteach books draw on a number of subjects to address environmental issues specific to Namibia. The books can be used to increase awareness of and responsibility for our Namibian environment. Enviroteach was developed to be used in schools to supplement text books and comes with teaching guides. Enviroteach makes both learning and teaching fun and more relevant.

Enviro-Club booklet

The Gobabeb training team has compiled a 'How to create an environmental club' booklet that is specially formulated to aid in the setting up and conducting of Enviro-Clubs. The booklet may be downloaded here.

Digitised EE materials

Gobabeb is working to digitize the library resources that are appropriate to environmental education as well as the MEG and Enviroteach activity-based materials. These materials are becoming available to schools and educators online and burned onto discs. Modules of Education at Gobabeb (MEG)

Modules of Education at Gobabeb (MEG) was a project funded by the Finnish Embassy in Windhoek that allowed Gobabeb to develop different resources and activities available for trainers to use with visiting groups. These activities are used on a regular basis to support training activities at the Centre.

Digital Library

The digital library, offered by Gobabeb’s partner institution, the Desert Research Foundation of Namibia provides free, online access to thousands of primary journal articles, masters theses, and other publications about sustainable development, desert ecology, Namib natural history, and arid environments. The library is maintained through DRFN’s library and can be accessed here.
