SAVMAP Kalahari mapping project meets Gobabeb

Several participants of the SAVMAP project, which focuses on a mapping/GIS-approach to rangeland management in semi-arid environments, visited Gobabeb from the 21st to the 23rd of May.

Participants of the SAVMAP project including two drone engineers of the DroneAdventures, one PhD student of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and Dr Friedrich Reinhard of the Kuzikus farm kindly supported Gobabeb's NERMU project. The collected aerial drone data will be used to create a map to count Weltwitschias over a large area and to derive a 3D elevation model to analyze the water catchment and channels.

We also thank all participants for the very informative presentation and practical introduction to drone data collection and are looking forward to further cooperation.
